SUMMARY:Leaving X – But What's Next?
DESCRIPTION:Leaving X – But What’s Next? – Research Outreach on Ever New Platforms NUAS Communications webinar 5. February 2025 at 11:00 CET\nMeet three Nordic communicators and researchers\, each with their own experiences from either leaving X or turning to use a new open social platform\, for example LinkedIn or Bluesky.\nFormerly known as Twitter\, X has been a preferred platform for researchers\, as well as crisis management for EU bureaucrats and communicators across the world. Why do so many researchers and education institutions leave X? Despite Elon Musk’s – in some circles – bad reputation\, it is still a viable platform to reach out to the many stakeholders.And\, more urgent – for many communicators working to disseminate and keep a good channel open for our researchers – why and how should we take on the ever-shifting channels\, and how can we build a new group of followers and stay trustworthy as research receivers? \nStåle Tvete Vollan\, Norwegian Academy of Music and member of NUAS Communication Group moderates this highly topical webinar. \nThe webinar is free for all NUAS members.Just click the link here to join the webinar on Zoom (uib.no) on 5. February at 11:00-12:00 CET (IS 10:00-11:00\, FI 12:00-13:00 )https://uib.zoom.us/j/61174822735?pwd=1vSezEjYBrPyZAlZfK1ijLfTwAwNqj.1 \nAt the webinar you will meet:\nMarjo Loisa\, Director of Communications at the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare\, Helsinki\, FinlandMarjo Loisa is an experienced communications professional. Previously\, Marjo held the position of Communications Director and Editor-in-Chief at Suomen Ekonomit\, where responsibilities included branding and marketing strategies. Marjo also worked for LUT University as Communications Director 2009 – 2018\, successfully revitalizing the university’s brand and communications. Marjo has also held various reporting and editorial roles at Etelä-Saimaa Newspaper and Sanoma Lehtimedia. Marjo has a Master of Social Sciences in Social Psychology from the University of Tampere and a Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration with a focus on Knowledge Management from LUT University. You can follow Marjo Loisa on LinkedIn. \nGudrun Urd Sylte is Head of Communications at the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research\, Bergen\, NorwayGudrun Sylte has a long experience in communicating climate science to different audiences through various channels. The Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research is a research centre studying the Earths climate system\, yet the research is still quickly caught in political debates. As social media has become an important tool for reaching the public\, these channels can be a challenge to manage. Due to such challenges\, the Bjerknes Centre decided last year to leave the platform X and enter Bluesky. You can follow Gudrun Urd Sylte on LinkedIn or BlueSky. \nEmma Elinor Lundin\, PhD\, historian\, Department of Society\, Culture and Identity\, University of Malmö Emma Lundin is a historian specializing in global liberation movements and gender politics\, with a PhD from Birkbeck\, University of London. Her research focuses on transnational activism\, including the anti-apartheid movement and gender quotas in political parties. She teaches history and social sciences at Malmö University and has taught at several top UK universities. Emma Lundin is also an experienced journalist and co-host of the Tomorrow Never Knows podcast. In this webinar\, she will discuss her experiences with Bluesky and its impact on her research and activism. Read more about Emma Lundin on Uni.
